Our main event of this year's "Opera del Popolo / Minnano Opera" is "Die Zauberflöte". With a renewal to our scenario by General Artistic Director OKAMURA Takao, we are due to find another refreshing image to this number since our last performance in 2002.
It was right after this "Die Zauberflöte" performance that I first inherited this position in September 2002. The next two years that had kept me running up and down for our "*Ciocio-san" regular performances seem like yesterday to me. At that time, all our staff members had a strong mind of corroboration, to show respect to and bring to fruition our General Artistic Director's passionate dreams of correcting the misconceptions of Japan.
I feel honorable to see in a person, the passion to fulfil dreams and desires, regardless of one's age. In a similar sense I am also a big fan of MIYAZAKI Hayao's animation pictures. Each work he brings out gives us a message to life, and therefore the soundwork and scenery are closely created to every detail. I could watch them over and over again, not only without losing fascination, but also with new enlightenments each and every time.
I would feel very much obliged to our visitors, who would think of coming to our performances again, and we are willing to work hard every moment to make our opera stages more and more attractive. OKAMURA Takao still has many future dreams. No one can be sure of how many dreams shall be achieved. Last year, he accomplished another challenge, in which he played a multi-part role in a mono-opera-like modern-style-**naniwa-bushi concert called "SHUGORO NO AISHU (YAMAMOTO Shugoro's Lament) -A Musical Love Story of a Man and Woman-". Even if it may take considerable periods of time, together we work toward his, alias our dream-come-true.
Of course none of our projects would never be accomplished without the warm encouragements from each and every visitor, and we ask for your favorable and continuous support. Our "Opera del Popolo / Minnano Opera" may as well reach for ***GENKIDAMAs from all over the world like in "Dragon Ball" to keep on growing.
